About
Dr. Todd Winkler has been a practicing optometrist in Cincinnati, Ohio for more than 20 years. He is a graduate of Finneytown High School, Ohio State University, and Ohio State University College of Optometry. He has been published more than 30 times in journal articles spanning 6 continents and has published a book for optometrists and ophthalmologists on the topic of contact lenses. He has also lectured extensively to both optometrists and ophthalmologists in the U.S. and abroad.
Professional History
Upon graduation, Dr. Winkler joined the practice of Dr. James Ellis, the original optometrist and one of the founders of LensCrafters®. In 1995, he acquired the Tri-County Mall LensCrafters®, which he operated as the lease-holding optometrist until May of 2010, when he moved his practice to become the lease-holding optometrist in his current location in the Kenwood Eyemart Express®.

Optometrists vs. Ophthalmologists
Ophthalmologists can perform routine eye exams, but many of them concentrate their practices on surgery. Whereas an optometrist can’t perform surgery, they can write prescriptions for medications and can treat superficial injuries. Also, most optometrists concentrate their practices on the more routine care that patients more typically require, such as prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.
